Founder & Head Coach Brooklyn

Hi! My name is Brooklyn Hillenbrand -owner and founder of Built to Be Community!

I'm 26 years old based out of San Diego, California where I relocated after graduating college with my B.S. in Health Sciences/Pre-Physical Therapy and Nutrition.

Throughout my 4 years in school, I played collegiate level soccer for 2 years to then transition into competitive bodybuilding where I went on to compete in 8 shows around the USA, earning national qualifications and placing 1st at Collegiate Nationals in 2018.

I started my personal training career out of my home gym in high school (2015) with neighbors and family friends to get my start in the field. At the time, I also started working at Lifetime Fitness as a Kids Club Trainer/Group Fitness Instructor. I later transferred to Power Train Sports Institution, a sports performance based gym where I worked as a group fitness instructor and personal trainer for 3+ years.
Nearing the end of my senior year of college, I decided to further pursue my passion of personal training and start my own business leveraging the social media presence I built during my time in school. In May 2019, I officially launched my subscription training membership 'Body by Brooklyn' and began promoting my online coaching services to the public.

Throughout the rest of 2019, I grew more and more passionate with 1:1 coaching and the results my clients were able to achieve. In January 2020, I made the full transition to Team Brooklyn Built (now Team Built to Be) & hired on my first assistant coach!

From there on, we have grown into a women's fitness and wellness brand serving women all over the world! Our mission and vision is to help as many women as possible become confident in the weight room; become the BEST, strongest versions of themselves; and achieve a beautiful life/fitness balance!

Fitness truly saved me after going through my 3rd knee surgery at 17 years old after coming back from playing soccer overseas. I was in a very dark place as everything I'd been working towards my entire childhood vanished in one single play.

Lifting was what gave me back my strength when I was at my weakest. Now my goal is to show every woman that her strength is POWERFUL... and she can be truly unstoppable.

Assistant Coach Gaby

Hi my name is Gaby! I am 26 years old from South Florida.

I am an ISSA Certified Personal Trainer and Certified Sports Nutritionist. I also have my certification in Kickboxing and currently working on my certification for hormonal balancing. I began coaching in 2018 and specifically with the team in April 2022.

A fun fact about me is that I’ve ridden horses my whole life and rode competitively for about 10 years! I also have 3 horses of my own.

I hope to show people that they can accomplish so much more than just hitting a number on a scale, the long-term results are way beyond that. Fitness and health is not a one size fits all and while it may take some hard work, it is so worth it! Learning to love yourself through the process is so important to me.

I believe that fitness is so much more mental than physical and I hope that sharing my experiences will inspire you to step outside your comfort zone and take the same jump I did! You deserve to feel strong, beautiful, and confident in your body!

Assistant Coach Sydney

Hello everyone! My name is Sydney Grendow.

I’m 28 years old and from Huron, Ohio. I am a NASM certified personal trainer and have been an in-person trainer for a little over 2 years now. I graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor’s in Exercise Science. I am studying for my Precision Nutrition Certification as well!

I live in the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio now with my boyfriend and the cutest little golden doodle, Melo. I love hanging out with our families, friends, taking walks, being in the sun and grocery shopping at Trader Joe’s.

I come from an athletic background being a competitive dancer for 12 years growing up, then began playing volleyball year round and was on BGSU’s club team for a few years. I’ve always been active, but was searching for the next step.

I started working with Coach Brooklyn back in 2020 to help me become successful in my health and fitness journey. I fell in love with the process and became passionate about fueling my body properly and lifting to be the strongest version of myself. My fitness journey is what lead me to where I am today and I am so excited for this new chapter! I can’t wait to help more women become the healthiest, happiest, and strongest versions of themselves!
